An Exclusive Tour Through the Album

JSB Midwest Town Album Art High Res.jpg

a note from joe

Thanks for being here! You’ll notice as you start touring through these album that the older the album is, the more detailed and extensive these Virtual Album Tours become. There’s a simple reason for that - I used to have a lot more time! Ha.

So even though this is the shortest and simplest of these little “journeys through the music,” that doesn’t mean I like Midwest Town any less. In fact, I probably like it most. Writing and recording this record was truly a labor of love. It was often painful and uncertain, but I think it emerged as the best group of songs and performances we’ve put down yet (as I write this in 2021).

So how ‘bout I shut up and let ya get to it? Below is all things Midwest Town - the songs, the videos, the merch, the tour we played to support it, and maybe even an album review and some credits at the end.

Again, thanks for being here. I sure hope you enjoy this.

Your friend, Joe

music & Videos

Feel free to download these songs for free!

This video is a collection of videos submitted by fans, as well as those candid moments we captured on our pwn phones while out touring the summer of 2021. It’s a Stammily Heirloom, of sorts.

bonus tracks

These songs were only available to Crowd Funders and on the Limited Edition CD. And now, you!
We recorded these at the same time we recorded the other songs on Midwest Town.

midwest merch!

We’re all about the Midwest here at JSB. And we’re also all about Merch! So naturally, we’ve got a bunch of Midwest Merch.
Some of this stuff might not be available any longer, depending on when you’re reading this. But there’ll still be plenty to choose from, regardless!

I keep sitting here trying to figure out what to write about this record… Truth is, I’m just really damn proud of it. We worked our asses off putting it together, and if I had to, I’d bare knuckle box a mountain lion to make sure you got a chance to hear every single one of these songs. They’re little pictures of life. My life. Your life. Life in the Midwest, in America, on Earth, wherever life exists. I cherish them and my heart would break if ya couldn’t hear them at least once.

I really need to thank some folks, and it has to start with the band. To Bruce, Dave and Tim – here’s to all those hours in my garage and in Dave’s basement putting personality and life into these songs. I’d hate to think how these songs would sound without your thoughts, efforts and talents.  To Luke out at Flat Black Studios, I owe ya another gentleman’s drink or two. Joe Carrel, you were there for us from front to back on this project, and I can’t imagine how it might’ve turned out without your guidance. And thanks, Randy Leroy, for not just mastering this album, but tellin us you think it’s good. Laurie and the Last Chance Bar, you’ll forever be in these thank you sections.  To my friend, Katy Skaggs, you make me smile every time I see you, and your generosity always floors me. I’d also like to thank Sonya Canary, as well as Jacob and Spencer Wilson, for inviting me to your parties. Joshua and Kimberly Shumaker, you and your family still blow me away. I don’t know what I ever did to deserve your loyalty and commitment, but I’ll never take it for granted. And to our Executive Producers, Sheila and Steve Grubb, as well as Central Illinois LINE-X…this is the second album in a row that you’ve helped us get out, and I’m incredibly grateful for your belief and very tangible support. I also wanna welcome River Valley Pipe to the fold – we’re sure glad to have ya!

There’s two more I need to thank, and both are the most important for different reasons. To my stunningly beautiful and talented wife, Elise, you make everything better - my music, my life, and everything between and around. I love you.

Lastly, thank YOU. Without you, this record and my dreams simply could not exist as they do. You’re the reason this record spins.  - Joe
