An old favorite, but new
The most awkward performance of my life (and a song one friend said I should never record)
The end of our saga
A song that sums it all up for me
A chance to give your opinion
An offer ONLY YOU will get
Let’s get started by gettin’ ya that download!
“Feel Like Me” is an old standby…I wrote it back in 2010 and first released a studio version back in 2016. Now you can here it raw, live, and unplugged…just the way I wrote it.
now, let me tell you about the time i had to sing a song about whiskey dick in front of my mom and my girlfriend’s parents…
Watch the video below to see and hear the whole, uncut, uncensored, actual performance
warning: explicit, and not intended for easily offended audiences!!
(if this is you, please skip ahead to the next section & do not watch the video:)
I played this song opening up for Chris Knight a couple years back, and Chris’ tour manager Jason (who has since become a good friend), told me I should never record this song because I would become “the Whiskey Dick guy.” I agreed. But this record just felt like the perfect place to put it. And I just had to get it out there at some point :)
and for the 1st time in history…
If nothing else, whenever I reach the end of what I hope will be a long career, I’ll always be able to say that a Joe Stamm show is the one place on earth where people actually request Whiskey Dick….
on that note…
Let’s finish this saga I’ve been telling all week…
CHAPTER 4
A lot of years passed. Lots of shows. Lots of songs. Some good. Some bad. None of them Dylan. Then one night, this kid, now on the downhill side of his thirties, announced his very own show. He was gonna rent out a theater, sell his own tickets, sing his own songs, and I’ll be damned if he wasn’t gonna record and video tape the whole thing. No juke boxes or shepherd’s crooks allowed.
Less than 7 hours later, that show sold out. So he had to announce another show. Most of them tickets sold, too.
You might of figured out by now, this kid we’ve been talking about all this time is me. This is my story. And this show I just mentioned is this album that we’ve been going through all week. On May 4th, 2019, at the Apollo Theater, we recorded “Stories: Live & Unplugged.” It’s the culmination of a lot of ups, downs, in betweens and go arounds. For several years, I’ve wanted to record a live, acoustic album. And by God, we’ve done it.
audience feedback
Before I share the final song, I want to share what a few of the audience members, who were at this show, had to say about that night…
you folks are the reason i have the best job in the world.
You’re the reason that my favorite place to be is in a song….
